REHABILITATIVE SERVICES

To help pets recuperate from trauma, surgery, degenerative joint disease, arthritis and chronic pain, the Woodlands Animal Care Center features the following therapies: Aquatic Therapy, Low Level Laser Therapy, Electrical Stimulation, Therapeutic Massage and Canine Pain Management.

Aquatic Therapy
Featuring an Underwater Treadmill and Therapeutic Whirlpool, this therapy allows pets to recuperate from trauma, surgery, degenerative joint disease/arthritis and chronic pain. Using the natural properties of water (buoyancy, resistance and heat) it can reduce recovery time up to 50-60% and accelerate condition for improved performance. Low-impact treadmill workouts help pets to increase muscle strength and endurance and allows for a quicker transition to land-based therapy. The underwater treadmill treats many musculoskeletal conditions and provides safe, controlled environment for gait analysis, exercise, stretching, muscle building and neuromuscular stimulation.

Low-Level Laser Therapy
Laser therapy intervention is designated to give your pet fast pain relief and improved healing times from traumatic skin injuries and surgical incisions.

Electrical Stimulation
Low levels on electricity are used to stimulate muscles to contract. This technique can be used to strengthen muscles, increase endurance, re-educate muscles and nerves after injury or surgery, and maintain muscle strength when a joint or limb cannot move.

Therapeutic Massage
In humans, physical therapy is widely used to help recover from trauma, surgeries, illnesses, arthritis, obesity and other problems. We use similar techniques to help animals recover from many of the same conditions. Therapeutic exercise can be used to preserve range of motion and muscle mass and to challenge healing tissues during recovery. From Theraband limb work, exercise balls, propriception equipment and therapeutic clothing; we work with the animal and the owner to design a program that will work best for them.

Canine Pain Management
We offer complete patient assessments, short and long term analgesia planning, as well as acupuncture and other integrative therapies.
